DURHAM, N.C.—Duke University seniors Jordan Wolf and Luke Duprey became the 11th and 12th Blue Devils to be selected in the first round of the Major League Lacrosse Draft, going second and fourth respectively. A program-record six Blue Devils were picked in the eight-round draft, besting the four choices in 2008 and 2012.

Wolf was taken second overall by the Rochester Rattlers and will join a host of former Blue Devils on the MLL squad following his senior campaign. The Philadelphia native is the third Blue Devil to be taken second, joining Kevin Cassese and Matt Danowski. Duprey was taken fourth by the New York Lizards, while Brendan Fowler (14), Josh Dionne (18), Henry Lobb (31), and Chris Hipps (55) all were picked by the Charlotte Hounds.

A speedy attackman, the three-time All-ACC choice has led the Duke offense throughout his career. He enters his final season with the Blue Devils with 120 goals and 81 assists for 201 points. He is one of 10 Duke players to amass 200-plus career points and is on track to become just the fourth player in program history to compile 100 goals and 100 assists. A two-time USILA All-America second team pick, Wolf is the first Blue Devil to earn All-ACC honors in his first three seasons.

Duprey, a longstick midfielder for the Blue Devils, is Duke’s top takeaway artist. The 6-5 pole led the squad with 37 caused turnovers and was second on the team behind Fowler in ground balls with 69. Duprey forced at least one turnover in 18 of his 21 games last season and picked up three-plus ground balls in 13 games. Also won 5-of-8 draws for the Blue Devils, including both in the NCAA Championship win over Syracuse.

The 2014 NCAA Championship Most Outstanding Player, Fowler enters the 2014 season as one of the top faceoff men in collegiate lacrosse. The Wantagh, N.Y. native won a NCAA single-season record 339 victories at the X to earn first team All-America accolades. Fowler collected 209 ground balls to break the Duke single-season mark and won 64 percent of his draws in his first season as Duke’s primary faceoff specialist.

Joining Fowler on the Hounds will be Dionne at attack. A two-year starter for the Blue Devils, the New Hampshire native earned USILA All-America honorable mention recognition after netting a career-high 45 goals in 2013. He ranked second on the team in goals and fourth in points. Dionne, on pace to net 100 career goals, scored at least one goal in 18 of 21 outings and had 10 scores during Duke’s run to the 2013 NCAA title. Overall for his career, Dionne has 91 goals and 15 assists for 106 points.

Lobb, a two-year starter on close defense for the Blue Devils, heads in his senior season as an anchor to the Duke defense. The 6-4 Philadelphia native corralled 22 ground balls and seven caused turnovers a year ago in 19 starts. He owns 38 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers in 43 career games for the Blue Devils.

Hipps rounded out Duke’s selections in the seventh round. A three-year starter for the Blue Devils’ close defense, Hipps was second on the team with 14 caused turnovers in 2013 and has 27 for his career. He picked up 32 ground balls on the year and captured ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping the defense hold 2012 NCAA Champion Loyola to just eight goals. In his career, Hipps has 58 of his 60 career games, amassing 81 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers.

Duke opens the 2013 campaign Feb. 8 against Jacksonville at 12 p.m.
