DURHAM, N.C. Luol Deng became an immediate contributor for the Cavaliers, following a Jan. 7 trade that sent the small forward to Cleveland. Deng joins fellow Duke alum Kyrie Irving, who continues to lead the Cavaliers in points, assists and steals as the NBA closes in on the midway point of the season.  

Shane Battier
Forward - Miami Heat
Drafted: 1st Round (6th pick) by the Memphis Grizzlies (2001)
2013-14 Stats: 31 games, 4.4 PPG, 1.8 RPG, 0.5 APG, 0.5 SPG, 0.6 BPG
Battier suffered a quadriceps injury that has kept the small forward out of action since Jan. 2. In his last appearance, Battier scored 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting, including 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the three-point line. Battier’s 11 points marked his second-highest scoring game of the season.

Elton Brand

Brand has seen an increase in production through the mid-way point of January, with monthly averages above his season averages in points, rebounds, blocks and steals. Brand scored a season-high 10 points Monday, in a losing effort against the Brooklyn Nets. Two games later, Brand collected a season-high 11 rebounds.

Carlos Boozer

Boozer returned to action Friday against the Milwaukee Bucks after missing two games due to a knee injury. In his return, Boozer recorded his tenth double-double of the season, scoring 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting and adding 13 rebounds. One game later, Boozer earned his eleventh double-double of the season, netting 12 points and bringing down 10 rebounds.

Luol Deng

Deng was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers Jan. 7, joining fellow Duke alum Kyrie Irving. Deng’s contributions for the Cavaliers steadily increased in his first three games in Cleveland, scoring 10, 12 and 27 points, respectively. In his most recent start, the small forward scored 27 points and added five rebounds. Deng was a perfect 5-of-5 from beyond the three-point line in the contest. Through three games in Cleveland, Deng is averaging 16.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 27.7 minutes.

Mike Dunleavy
Forward - Chicago Bulls

Dunleavy scored 20 points for the fourth time this season Saturday against the Atlanta Hawks, converting on nine of 14 attempts from the floor. Dunleavy’s scoring output in the month of January is the highest this season, as the small forward is averaging 14 points through six games this month. Dunleavy is also averaging more three-pointers made in January than any other month this season.

Gerald Henderson

Henderson led all scorers with a season-high 30 points Saturday against the Chicago Bulls while adding three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Henderson helped the Bobcats break a three-game losing streak Tuesday, scoring 17 points in 36 minutes of action against the New York Knicks.

Kyrie Irving

After missing three contests due to a knee injury, Irving returned to action against the 76ers Tuesday scoring 16 points and adding eight assists. Irving followed the eight-assist performance the following game with another eight assists and 25 points. The point guard also recorded a season-high five steals against the Utah Jazz. Irving remains the team’s leader in points, steals and assists.

Josh McRoberts
Forward - Charlotte Bobcats

McRoberts recorded his third double-digit rebounding game of the season Saturday against the Sacramento Kings, after collecting a season-high 11 rebounds. McRoberts also added four assists, one block and a steal. The power forward reached a season-high three blocks three games later against the Chicago Bulls, while once again adding four assists and six rebounds.

After a season-high 38 minutes of action against the San Antonio Spurs on New Year’s Eve, Plumlee’s minutes decreased considerably, with the power forward seeing 11 minutes of action in the Nets’ next game before not entering play the following three games. In Plumlee’s most recent appearance, he brought down five rebounds while tying a career-high four blocks against the Toronto Raptors.  

Miles Plumlee

Plumlee recorded his ninth double-double of the season Monday, scoring 12 points and adding 11 rebounds in a 98-96 Phoenix Suns loss. Plumlee is nearly averaging a double-double this season, posting 16 games with double-digit rebounds. The center remains consistent through January, with near-identical averages to his season statistics mid-way through the month.

J.J. Redick

Redick scored 19 points in his return from a wrist injury that sidelined the point guard for six weeks. Redick shot 8-of-15 from the floor in the Los Angeles Clippers’ 123-87 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Austin Rivers
