2014-15: Competed in his first collegiate cross country race at the Virginia Duals (8/29), placing 12th overall…saw a 25th-place finish at the JMU Invitational (9/13), clocking an 8K time of 26:08.50…ran a personal-best 8K time of 25:44.7 at the Royals XC Challenge (10/13), placing sixth overall in the process…did not compete during the 2015 indoor or outdoor season.
2013-14: Indoors, opened his college career by clocking a converted 800 time of 1:59.07 at the Tar Heel Open (1/25), placing 14th in the process...Outdoors, competed three times...clocked a season-best 1,500 time of 4:07.33 at the VertKlasse Meeting (4/4)...ran a near identical 1,500 time of 4:07.34 at the Raleigh Relays (3/28) to begin his outdoor season...concluded his freshman campaign with a 25th-place showing in the mile at the Joe Hilton Invitational (4/12), running a time of 4:23.66.
Prior to Duke: Four year letterwinner in cross country and track & field under Ken Hendler at Oceanside Senior High School…competed at the 2012 USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championship…twice named to All-County Cross Country team (2011, 2012)…received All-Long Island honors in the 4x800 as a junior...raced at the New Balance Indoor Nationals…National AP Scholar…Vice-President of National Honor Society.
Personal: Son of John and Jean Benesch…born May 18, 1995…has one older brother, Jeffrey Benesch, who competed for Sacred Hearth University.
