AMES, IOWA -- One day after posting two wins at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, the Duke women’s track and field team returned to the track in day two of competition with strong performances. The Blue Devils added three competitors to the roster of harriers who qualified for the conference championship, achieving the standard in events ranging from the 800 meters to the mile.

Sophomore Anima Banks made her season debut at 800m, running a conference-qualifying time of 2:08.01 to place eighth overall. The finishing time ranks Banks 45th in the nation in the event. Junior Abby Farley, appearing in her fourth 800 of the season, placed 11th overall in an unconverted season-best time of 2:09.36, while freshman Haley Meier, also competing in the 800 for the first time this season, set a personal-record time of 2:11.46, placing her 15th overall.

Freshman Hannah Meier and sophomore Madison Granger both secured ACC-qualifying standards in the mile Saturday, with Meier placing ninth overall in a time of 4:48.65 and Granger placing 11th overall in a time of 4:49.69. Meier’s performance marked her first competition in the mile at the collegiate level while Granger earned a qualifying time in her third appearance of the season.

Graduate student Audrey Huth ran a season-best time of 9:20.81 in the 3,000, placing the Shelby, Mich., native in fifth overall. Huth’s 3,000 time currently ranks 28th in the nation.

The Blue Devils return to competition Friday, Feb. 21, with members of the track and field team traveling to Blacksburg, Va., for the Virginia Tech Challenge. Additional Duke track and field competitiors are also set to compete Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
