DURHAM, N.C. -- The Duke University cross country and track & field team will hold the annual Duke Running Camp from July 30 to August 3, 2014. Registration is now open online and will continue through July 20 or until all spots are filled.
The Duke Running Camp provides campers with an inside look at how the Blue Devils have established themselves as one of the nation's premiere collegiate running programs. The camp focuses on providing instruction in the running events, primarily 800-meters through 5,000-meters and cross country, for boys and girls ages 11-18. Instruction includes running workouts, strength training, form drills, stretching, dynamic warm-up routines, racing strategies, nutrition and sports psychology, with optional instruction in the steeplechase also available. All campers will receive a Duke Running Camp t-shirt.
Duke head women's cross country coach Kevin Jermyn will once again serve as Camp Director in 2014, while Blue Devil head men's cross country coach Norm Ogilvie will also be in attendance. Current and former Duke runners will serve as camp counselors.
All training activities will take place at Duke University's facilities and running trails. The training facilities at Duke are among the best in the nation with over 30 miles of running trails in the Duke Forest and a great variety of running routes on soft surfaces available. Duke also features the 34,000-capacity Wallace Wade Stadium, one of the top track & field venues in the country and host to the 2000 NCAA Track & Field Championships.
