DURHAM, N.C.--Five members of the Duke men’s soccer team landed on the All-ACC Academic Team as announced by the conference office today. The Blue Devils’ five selections were the second most in the ACC and two more than last year’s four.
Voted to the team were freshman Brody Huitema, juniors Sean Davis, Nat Eggleston, and Nick Palodichuk and redshirt senior Alex Long. Notre Dame led all schools with six choices, while Huitema is one of five freshmen represented.
Eggleston was one of seven players to earn his third accolade and joins NC State’s Matt Ingram as the lone juniors to have been named to the team in each of their first three seasons. Davis and Palodichuk pick up their second awards after combining for 10 goals and 27 points in 2013.
Overall, the quintet combined for 89 starts, 16 goals and 43 points, while Long and Eggleston anchored Duke’s defense to a 0.93 goals against average and seven shutouts.
The Blue Devils will be busy this spring with five games on tap with a Feb. 28 matchup with Wake Forest kicking off the spring campaign. That game is set for 7 p.m., in Winston-Salem, N.C.
