Marconcini Named ACC Player of the Week

DURHAM, N.C. - Duke first baseman Chris Marconcini has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week as announced by the league office Monday.

The Brentwood, Tenn., native hit .667 over Duke’s four games last week, going 10-for-15 with a pair of home runs, two doubles and seven RBI. In addition to scoring six runs and stealing three bases, Marconcini also reached base14 times in 19 total plate appearances. He had at least one hit in each of the Blue Devils’ four games with multiple hits in three contests, including a career-high four hits against UNC Greensboro Feb. 18.

The honor is the first ACC weekly citation for Marconcini, and the first for a Blue Devil first baseman since Scott Pinoni earned the recognition May 8, 1993. In total, 12 Blue Devils have garnered 14 ACC Player of the Week accolades in program history.
