DURHAM, N.C. -- The game of golf is one of the most technically advanced sports known to man. The combination of feel and coordination is crucial to developing into a top level player. Here at Duke University the Women’s Golf team uses their training to help positively impact these two areas.

Sports Performance Coach Alex Merrill uses two training sessions a week to focus on movement based exercise and conditioning.  Activities such as upper and lower body plyometrics, agility ladder drills, stability based core exercises, and conditioning circuits that incorporate the use of slide boards are at the root of their training.

The women continue to gain better proprioception (feel/coordination) of their bodies which has had an extremely positive influence on their golf games. By giving the players the ability to better control their bodies, they are able to better control the golf club.
