DURHAM, N.C. – Eighth-ranked Duke (6-3, 1-1 ACC) concludes a three-game homestand Saturday, March 22 against ACC opponent Virginia at 3 p.m. from Koskinen Stadium. A representative from equipment provider STX will be at the game with fan giveaways and other information.

Scouting the Blue Devils
Duke (6-3, 1-1 ACC) held its second consecutive opponent to single-digit scoring last weekend in a 17-6 victory over Jacksonville ... Junior attacker Kerrin Maurer guides the offense with 28 goals and 16 assists while sophomore Kelci Smesko is second on the team with 23 points (15g, 8a) ... Returning All-American defender Taylor Virden leads the way in draw controls (32) and caused turnovers (13) ... Sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Duryea, a second team All-America selection last spring, owns an 8.92 goals against average and a .483 save percentage in the net ... Duke’s balanced attack is outscoring opponents by a 133-79 margin ... The squad ranked sixth nationally in total points entering the week.

Last Time Out
Junior midfielder Taylor Trimble tallied a season-high four goals and eight other Blue Devils also scored in a 17-6 victory over Jacksonville Sunday, March 16 at Koskinen Stadium ... The Duke defense held its opponent to single-digit scoring for the second consecutive game with sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Duryea posting 11 saves against 20 shots by the Dolphins ... Jacksonville entered the contest averaging 14.86 goals per game but was limited to just the six scores ... Trimble and senior Sydney Peterson both collected hat tricks for the second consecutive outing with senior Maddy Morrissey and juniors Kerrin Maurer and Chelsea Landon also contributing multiple scores.

Scheduling the Best
Duke’s 2014 slate currently features eight teams ranked in the top 20 of the latest IWLCA Coaches Poll ... The Blue Devils began a tough stretch in late February, falling short against top-five foes Northwestern (Feb. 22) and Maryland (March 1) and suffering a one-goal setback to No. 14 Georgetown (March 5).

Maurer Quarterbacking the Offense
Junior attacker Kerrin Maurer is once again one of the Blue Devils’ most dependable playmakers up front ... She leads the team this spring in points (44), goals (28) and assists (16) and ranks second in draw controls (22) ... The Setauket, N.Y., native ranks third in the ACC and 11th nationally in points per game with a 4.89 average ... Maurer is also fourth in the conference in scoring at 3.11 goals per game and ranks sixth nationally in goals.

Virden Quick on the Draw
Duke is 4-1 this spring when winning the draw controls category ... Senior defender Taylor Virden has been scrappy on the wings, leading the team with 32 draw controls ... She ranked seventh in the ACC in draws entering the week ... Virden won a career-high six draws last season against Vanderbilt (March 2, 2013) and has notched five draw controls on three occasions this year ... The Ellicott City, Md., native ranks fifth on Duke’s all-time list for career draw controls with 154 over her four seasons.

Virden, Duryea Among ACC Leaders
Returning IWLCA All-Americans Taylor Virden and Kelsey Duryea continue to anchor the defense in 2014 ... Duryea ranks fourth in the conference in ground balls per game (2.33) while Virden is eighth (2.00) ... Duryea is also second among ACC goalkeepers with an average of 8.00 saves per game ... Virden ranks fifth in the league in caused turnovers per game (1.44).

Scoring Streaks
Junior Kerrin Maurer has tallied at least one point in a career-high 15 consecutive games dating back to last season ... The Setauket, N.Y., native has scored multiple goals in all nine games this spring and recorded multiple assists five times ... Sophomore Kelci Smesko (10 games), junior Brigid Smith (9) and junior Erin Tenneson (5) are also in the midst of career-long scoring streaks.

Maurer, Virden Moving Up Career Lists
Senior defender Taylor Virden and junior attacker Kerrin Maurer provide veteran experience at both ends of the field ... Maurer paces the Blue Devils in points, goals and assists this season and is currently tied for fifth all-time in career assists (75) and ranks 13th in program history in career points (163) ... Maurer reached the 100-point barrier and topped the 50-assist milestone as a sophomore last season ... Virden leads the team in draw controls and caused turnovers in 2014 and ranks fifth all-time in career draw controls with 154 ... She is also approaching the 100-ground ball mark for her career with 99 over four seasons.

Duryea Tops 200-Save Mark
Sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Duryea, a second team IWLCA All-American last year, reached the 200-save plateau against Virginia Tech (March 9) ... The netminder from Beverly, Mass., has 72 saves this season and 216 for her career ... She currently ranks sixth on Duke’s all-time saves chart and joins Shannon Chaney (1997-00) and Meg Huether (2003-06) as the only goalkeepers in program history to top the 200 career saves mark in their second season.

Reaching the Perfect 10
Since 2010, the Blue Devils are 60-9 when scoring at least 10 goals in a game ... Duke is 1-18 in that span when held to fewer than 10 scores ... This season, the squad has reached the 10-goal mark in all nine games while going 6-3 in those contests.
