DURHAM, N.C. -- The Atlantic Coast Conference named sophomore Megan Clark Performer of the Week Tuesday, one day after she received the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week honor. The conference performer of the week award is the third for Clark in 2014 and the first of the outdoor season.

Clark won the pole vault at the Carolina Relays in Chapel Hill, N.C., Saturday, posting a school-record mark of 14-7.25 (4.45). The Fort Benning, Ga., native’s effort surpassed former Olympian Jillian Schwartz’s record of 14-2.00 (4.31), set in 2001. Clark, who currently owns the highest collegiate clearance in the nation this season, cleared the height on her first attempt.

Clark’s clearance on Saturday is tied for the ninth-highest clearance on the all-time outdoor collegiate performers list.

Clark travels to Austin, Texas, to compete in the Texas Relays pole vault Friday evening.
