DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke baseball program is teaming up with NC State to support the Vs. Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization which empowers athletes and communities to fund childhood cancer efforts.
Both teams will shave their head in support of children battling cancer following the Duke/NC State series finale Sunday, April 13 at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. This is the second year Duke has participated in such an event after joining forces with rival North Carolina a season ago.
In addition, the Blue Devils are accepting donations on behalf of the Duke Children’s Hospital in conjunction with the Vs. Cancer Foundation. Please visit http://duke.vs-cancer.org/ to make a donation.
“It is an honor and a privilege for Duke Baseball to team up with the Vs. Cancer Foundation again this spring,” said head coach Chris Pollard. “We are so proud to partner with this terrific organization for such a great cause. Additionally, our program could not be more thrilled that the money we raise will go directly to support the Duke Children’s Hospital.”
Chase Jones, a cancer survivor and former Tar Heel baseball player, began the Vs. Cancer Foundation in December 2012. Jones was diagnosed with Stage IV brain cancer in 2006 during his freshman year at North Carolina.
