DURHAM, N.C. – The WNBA has announced Duke University senior Chelsea Gray headlines a list of 12 prospects who will attend the WNBA Draft 2014 on Monday, April 14 at Mohegan Sun Arena  in Uncasville, Conn.  Live coverage of the first round will begin on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. ET, while coverage of the second and third rounds will be televised on ESPNU from 9-10:30 p.m.

Along with Gray, Natalie Achonwa (Notre Dame), Sefanie Dolson (Notre Dame), Markeisha Gatling (NC State), Bria Hartley (UConn), Natasha Howard (Florida State), Kayla McBride (Notre Dame), Chiney Ogwumike (Stanford), Shoni Schimmel (Louisville), Meighan Simmons (Tennessee), Odyssey Sims (Baylor) and Alyssa Thomas (Maryland) will attend the draft.

Gray, a senior from Manteca, Calif., is one of the top point guards in the nation.  A two-time All-America,  Gray had her junior and senior campaigns cut short due to knee injuries.  As a junior, Gray played in 25 contests before suffering a dislocated kneecap against Wake Forest on Feb. 17, 2013.  She averaged 12.6 points, 5.4 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 3.6 steals on the season, but still was named Co-ACC Player of the Year, Associated Press and WBCA Coaches All-America.

In 2013-14, Gray was averaging 10.8 points, 7.2 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.9 steals through 17 games.  Her 7.2 assists ranked sixth nationally and she needed only 35 more dishes to become Duke’s all-time assist leader.  In 109 career games, the 5-11 playmaker accumulated 1,210 points, 545 assists, 478 rebounds and 298 steals.

The Connecticut Sun holds the top pick in the draft for the second time in franchise history after garnering the top selection in this year’s WNBA Draft Lottery presented by State Farm, which aired on ESPN’s SportsCenter in December.  Rounding out this year’s top five picks are the Tulsa Shock (second), San Antonio Stars (third), New York Liberty (fourth), and Indiana Fever (fifth).
Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn. is the home of the Connecticut Sun and has hosted the WNBA All-Star Game three times (2005, 2009, and 2013).
