DURHAM, N.C. – Fresh off a two-week break from competition, the Duke rowing team will head to Clemson, S.C., this Saturday and Sunday for the Clemson Invitational on Lake Hartwell.

The Blue Devils will compete in 10 races Saturday, split into a morning and afternoon session, and five races Sunday against a stout field that includes No. 16 Cornell, No. 18 Clemson, Oregon State, Louisville, Dartmouth and Michigan State. The event is a continuation of a challenging schedule that has allowed Duke to square off against five ranked teams this spring.

The Blue Devils will compete in the V8, 2V8, V4, 3V8 and 4V8 at the Clemson Invitational. It will be Duke’s second trip to Lake Hartwell this season, following up on a March 22 visit that saw the Blue Devils grab five top-three finishes, including a second-place showing in the varsity eight. Duke found plenty of success at last year’s Clemson Invitational, setting top-five times in school history in the V8, 2V8 and V4.

Duke has not competed in a regatta since the Oregon State Classic on April 5, but the time away has been anything but idle. In the midst of the two weeks of training on Lake Michie, the Blue Devils officially opened their new boathouse on April 12 in a ceremony that brought together rowers past and present as well as Duke athletics administrators and friends of the program.
