GREENSBORO, N.C. – The league office released the 2014 ACC Women’s Tennis Championship bracket Sunday evening, following the conclusion of the regular season.  The championship will kick off Wednesday, April 23 at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.

Duke is seeded No. 5, following registering a 21-3 overall and 11-3 league mark, and will face the winner of Maryland/Wake Forest Thursday at 9:00 a.m.  The winner of Thursday’s match will advance to face No. 4 seeded Clemson (20-5, 12-2).  

The Blue Devils are currently ranked No. 1 nationally, but closed the regular season with 4-3 losses at Clemson and Georgia Tech.

North Carolina (23-4, 12-2) was seeded No. 1, while Miami (18-4, 12-2) received the No. 2 seed, Virginia (18-5, 12-2) earned the No. 3 seed and Clemson was seeded No. 4.  Each of the top four seeds received double-byes to Friday’s quarterfinals.

Wednesday’s first-round action will begin with No. 12 Maryland (8-12, 4-10) playing No. 13 Wake Forest (11-12, 3-11), No. 10 Boston College (13-9, 5-9) squaring off against No. 15 Pitt (4-14, 0-14) and No. 11 Virginia Tech (12-12, 4-10) taking on No. 14 NC State (8-13, 2-12).
Other matches on Thursday features No. 6 Georgia Tech (12-8, 9-5) against the winner of Virginia Tech/NC State. No. 7 Notre Dame (15-8, 8-6), competing in its first ACC Championship, will face the winner of Boston College/Pitt.
