DURHAM, N.C. – After concluding the regular season on an eight-match win streak, the 11th-ranked Duke men’s tennis team enters the 2014 ACC Championship as the tournament’s second seed and will face the winner of seventh-seeded Virginia Tech and 10th-seeded Wake Forest Friday, Apr. 25 at 12 p.m.

Virginia Tech Series History
Duke and the Hokies have met 27 times in program history, with the Blue Devils leading the series, 25-2 ... Duke has claimed each of the past six contests between the two teams, including a 5-2 decision earlier this season in Durham ... The Blue Devils are 5-0 all-time when facing Virginia Tech on neutral courts.

Last Time We Met
Duke posted wins on all three courts in doubles and kept the momentum rolling in singles for a 5-2 victory over Virginia Tech March 21 at Ambler Tennis Stadium ... Sophomore Josh Levine clinched the match from the No. 6 position, dispatching the Hokies’ Florian Nicoud in a decisive third set, 6-3.

Scouting the Hokies
Listed 40th in this week’s ITA Division I team rankings, Virginia Tech enters the ACC Championship with an overall ledger of 13-10 and a 5-6 mark in conference play and earned the No. 7 seed ... The squad suffered a 7-0 setback to Virginia in its final regular season contest Apr. 19 ... The Hokies earned a 4-3 decision over Wake Forest in the teams’ regular season meeting Apr. 11 in Blacksburg, Va. ... Amerigo Contini, the 24th-ranked player in the ITA singles poll, leads the team with a 16-6 record from the No. 1 position ... Duke and the Demon Deacons would square off for the 99th time in school history should the teams meet in the tournament quarterfinals ... The Blue Devils hold an 83-15 advantage in the series and have won seven of the last eight contests between the two squads.

Last Time We Met
The Blue Devils captured a tightly-contested doubles point and got out to a fast start in singles to top then-No. 25 Wake Forest, 4-3, Apr. 18 in Winston-Salem, N.C. ... The doubles point came down to a tiebreaker on court three, where redshirt junior Cale Hammond and sophomore Bruno Semenzato edged the Demon Deacons’ Adam Lee and Anthony Delcore, 8-7 (5) ... Sophomore Josh Levine clinched the victory from the No. 5 position, but Wake Forest rallied for wins on the three remaining courts in singles.

Scouting the Demon Deacons
Wake Forest heads to Cary as the No. 10 seed and the 31st-ranked team in the country ... The squad closed the regular season with a narrow 4-3 loss to NC State, bringing its record to 14-12 on the season and 3-8 in ACC competition ... Romain Bogaerts, the 28th-ranked singles player in the nation, owns a 15-8 record at the top of the lineup ... No. 79 Adam Lee is 10-8 at the No. 2 spot and No. 105 Maksim Kan has gone 12-4 at the No. 3 position ... The Demon Deacons’ Pedro Dumont and Jonathan Ho form the 50th-ranked doubles tandem in the ITA poll while Lee and Dumont are ranked 51st.

Scouting the Blue Devils
Duke (18-5, 10-1 ACC) won eight consecutive matches in ACC play to wrap up the regular season and jumped three spots to No. 11 in the latest ITA team rankings ... The squad topped Wake Forest, 4-3, last Friday and earned a thrilling 5-2 victory over then-No. 8 North Carolina Sunday to secure the No. 2 seed in the ACC Championship ... The team’s 10 wins in conference competition marked a program record ... Junior Jason Tahir moved up to No. 30 in this week’s national singles poll for the highest ranking of his career and is 7-4 from the No. 1 singles position ... No. 36 Fred Saba is 12-2 at the No. 2 spot and No. 92 Bruno Semenzato has compiled a 15-3 record at the No. 4 position ... Saba and Hemmeler are ranked 52nd as a doubles tandem and have gone 7-4 at the top spot while Hemmeler is also ranked 82nd with Semenzato.

2014 ACC Championship
The ACC Men’s Tennis Championship returns to the Cary Tennis Park this week ... The Blue Devils advanced to the tournament semifinals last season before falling to Wake Forest in a 4-3 decision ... The Duke program has captured 12 ACC championship titles, most recently in 2006.

Duke Looks to Carry Momentum into Tournament
The Blue Devils gained momentum as the ACC season progressed and will look to carry that into the conference tournament this weekend in Cary ... The eight-match win streak began with a 4-3 upset of then-No. 9 Notre Dame on the road March 28 and has included victories over Boston College, Miami, Florida State, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest and North Carolina in that time ... Four of those wins were 7-0 sweeps while the squad also claimed the doubles point in six of those contests.

Win Streaks in Singles
Freshman TJ Pura remains undefeated in dual match singles play and has won 13 consecutive contests dating back to the fall ... The Duke rookie is 20-5 overall and 7-0 at the No. 6 spot in the lineup ... Senior Fred Saba has posted eight-straight wins, including the 100th singles victory of his career on Apr. 13 ... Sophomore Josh Levine owns a win streak of four matches and has won a team-best 10 three-set contests in dual match play.
