Duke sophomore Emma Lazaroff will blog throughout the 2014 season, providing fans with an inside look at life on the Blue Devil women's lacrosse team. Look for Emma's blog all year on

I apologize for the long delay since my last blog post. Things can get pretty hectic here at Duke at the end of the year but a great deal has happened since my last entry.

Before you read this post, here's a bit of a sidebar: our team was stuck in the airport for seven hours last weekend, and thought we would create a music video for our loyal followers! If you like the video, share it, tweet it, send it to friends and family.  And let us know what you think! (We are trying to make it big) Here's the link:

Duke Women's Lacrosse - Fancy by Iggy Azalea

Besides hanging out in airport and making music videos, we had a rivalry win over UNC, an ACC Tournament road trip and two great wins in the NCAA tournament against Stanford and Notre Dame.

Which means we’re still dancing. And will face Maryland in the NCAA quarterfinals on Saturday.

Being in the NCAA tournament forces us to realize that each game could easily be our last, and we are willing to do whatever it takes to ensure just the opposite.  We have been focusing on playing our hardest just to be able to spend one more day together practicing, one more day with our seniors and one more day sweating in the 95 degree Durham heat.

The NCAA tournament is a true test of what an amazing team we are. Everything we have worked on since August, all the sweat, blood, tears and unforgettable memories, come down to this.  Now is when we prove that we truly are the best team in the nation.

Our game against Maryland on Saturday will be a battle, but we are more than prepared. All 33 players, four coaches and all our supporting staff (what an amazing staff we have!!) have been committed, dedicated and determined to deliver an upset win over the Terps this weekend.

It may be a cliché, but on this team, it is a statement of truth – we have each other’s backs, and we’ll do what it takes to reach our goals – as one team, and now is the time to show it.

We are not done yet and don’t plan to be done until we win the national championship Memorial Day weekend.

We are 33 strong.
