COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Former Duke defender Stefanie Fee has been named to the 18-player roster that will represent the United States at the 2014 Rabobank Hockey World Cup in the Hague, Netherlands May 31-June 15.
Team USA enters the tournament ranked 10th in the world and will join No. 2 Argentina, No. 3 England, No. 6 Germany, No. 7 China and No. 11 South Africa in Pool B.
“Competition for places has been fierce,” said U.S. head coach Craig Parnham. “However, the strength of the World Cup team is a result of all the hard work that the whole squad commits to each day in training. We now focus on our final preparations and look forward to the start of the World Cup.”
The U.S. squad is coming off of a strong showing at the Champions Challenge two weeks ago in Glasgow, Scotland, where it captured the gold with a 3-1 victory over Ireland in the final.
Historically, Team USA’s highest finish at the World Cup came in a third-place finish in 1994. In its last appearance at the tournament in 2006, the U.S. took sixth overall.
All matches of the World Cup will be streamed on ESPN3. For more information on the event, visit teamusa.org/USA-Field-Hockey.
