DURHAM, N.C. -- Three members of the second-ranked Duke women’s tennis team were named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-America list Thursday. Sophomore Beatrice Capra and junior Ester Goldfeld received the honor in singles, while Capra and senior Hanna Mar were each named ITA All-Americans in doubles. Duke tied Virginia and Georgia for the second-most All-Americans on the list with three.

To earn All-America honors, an individual must receive a top-16 seed in the NCAA Singles Championship, reach the round of 16 in the NCAA Singles Championship, finish in the top 20 of the final ITA National Singles Rankings, garner a top-eight seed in the NCAA Doubles Championship, reach the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship or finish in the top 10 of the final ITA National Doubles Rankings.

Capra, who received the honor for the second time in her career, concluded the season with an overall ledger of 30-10. Capra has now won 30 or more singles matches in both seasons with Duke. Amassing a record of 19-8 against nationally ranked opponents, Capra reached the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Singles Championship before falling to Georgia State’s Abigail Tere-Apisah, 6-4, 3-6, 1-6.

Capra teamed with Mar in doubles to earn All-America honors after the tandem reached the semifinal round of the NCAA Doubles Championship. The Duke duo suffered a defeat against Alabama’s fourth-ranked pair of Maya Jansen and Erin Routliffe, 6-0, 4-6, 6-2. Capra and Mar accumulated 23 wins in 30 matches, becoming the 12th Blue Devil pair to win 23 or more matches in a season.

Goldfeld, earning the first All-America honor of her collegiate career, posted strong play in the NCAA Singles Championship, reaching the semifinal round of the tournament before falling to Virginia’s 32nd-ranked Danielle Collins, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3). Goldfeld led the Blue Devils in singles wins with 36, becoming the 21st singles player in Duke history to reach 36 victories.

Goldfeld and Mar became the 31st and 32nd Blue Devils in school history to earn ITA All-America honors.
