Boutier, who is from Montrouge, France, held the lead in the match through nine holes and had a 2up advantage from holes 2-6 Thursday early in the morning. A bogey by Boutier on the 182-yard, par three 10th sent the match to all square. A second straight bogey by Boutier gave Gillman her first lead of the match through No. 11.
A birdie by Gillman on the 13th gave her a 2up lead, but Boutier responded with a birdie of her own to cut the deficit to one. Gillman had a bogey on the 17th hole to send the match back to all square heading into the final hole. Both golfers had a bogey on No. 18, before heading to extra holes. After two pars on the first hole, Boutier suffered a bogey to advance Gillman on the round of 16.
Boutier will now get prepared to head back to Durham, N.C., where the Blue Devils will open classes later this month.
