GLEN COVE, N.Y. – For the second straight day, Duke University junior Celine Boutier’s U.S. Amateur match play contest went to extra holes, but the Blue Devil standout dropped her match in 20 holes against 39th-seeded Kristen Gillman Thursday morning at the Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, N.Y.

Boutier, who is from Montrouge, France, held the lead in the match through nine holes and had a 2up advantage from holes 2-6 Thursday early in the morning.  A bogey by Boutier on the 182-yard, par three 10th sent the match to all square.  A second straight bogey by Boutier gave Gillman her first lead of the match through No. 11.

A birdie by Gillman on the 13th gave her a 2up lead, but Boutier responded with a birdie of her own to cut the deficit to one.  Gillman had a bogey on the 17th hole to send the match back to all square heading into the final hole.  Both golfers had a bogey on No. 18, before heading to extra holes.  After two pars on the first hole, Boutier suffered a bogey to advance Gillman on the round of 16.

Boutier will now get prepared to head back to Durham, N.C., where the Blue Devils will open classes later this month.
