Haley Peters has signed with the Universitario de Ferrol professional team in Spain for the upcoming season. Ferrol is moving to the LFB Division in Spain, which is the highest division of basketball in the country.DURHAM, N.C. – Recent Duke women’s basketball graduate
A native of Red Bank, N.J., Peters appeared in 136 games over her career averaging 10.1 points and 6.1 rebounds. As a senior, Peters averaged 11.2 points a tied for team-best 7.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals in 31 games for the Blue Devils. The 6-3 forward received All-ACC Tournament second team, Capital One Academic All-America and All-ACC Academic Team honors during the season.
She was an All-ACC selection as a sophomore and junior, while earning All-ACC Academic Team and ACC Honor Roll accolades each of her four years. Peters closed her career with 1,367 points and 826 rebounds to rank 16th and eighth, respectively, in the Duke record books. She helped lead the Blue Devils to two ACC Championships, three ACC regular season titles, three trips to the NCAA Elite Eight and a total of 120 wins over her four years.
With Peters signing, three of the four 2014 Duke graduates have signed to play professionally – Tricia Liston (Minnesota Lynx) and Chelsea Gray (Connecticut Sun) in the WNBA. Richa Jackson is expecting to sign a contract overseas very soon as well.
