GoDuke.com took a few minutes to get to know the lighter side of freshman Brian White of the Duke men’s soccer team. White, a New Jersey native, joins the Blue Devils after helping his club squad, Players Development Academy, to the USSDA National Championship in July.

GoDuke: Who is your roommate?
Brian White: Bryson Asher

GoDuke: What is something people don’t know about Bryson?
BW: It’s impossible to wake him up. The alarm will go off for five minutes and he won’t wake up. I have to slap him. He also wears cowboy boots.

GoDuke: What is on the walls in your room?
BW: A Liverpool flag, an American flag and a Texas flag.

GoDuke: What is your favorite international team?
BW: Liverpool

GoDuke: Who is a player you model your game after?
BW: Steven Gerrard

GoDuke: Favorite food?
BW: My mom’s spaghetti and meatballs

GoDuke: Favorite movie?
BW: Miracle

GoDuke: What restaurants have you been to in Durham?
BW: Metro 8

GoDuke: What is your most memorable soccer moment?
BW: Winning the National Championship this summer. We beat Ebo (Jeremy Ebobisse) and Carter (Manley).

GoDuke: What is the best place soccer has taken you?
BW: Oregon for US Combine

GoDuke: What is the biggest misconception about the state of New Jersey?
BW: It’s not like the show “The Jersey Shore”.
