DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke head coach David Cutcliffe’s work with the Blue Devil football program as well as his storied relationship with Peyton and Eli Manning will be chronicled on the next episode of 60 Minutes Sports, airing on Tuesday, September 2 at 10 p.m. on Showtime.

Under the direction of Cutcliffe, Duke has reached new heights including a school record 10 wins and the ACC’s Coastal Division championship last year.

Cutcliffe’s formal relationship with the Manning family dates back to the early 1990s when, as the offensive coordinator at Tennessee, he recruited Peyton to Knoxville. While under the eye of Cutcliffe, Peyton guided the Volunteers to 40 wins and earned first team All-America honors as a senior. In the 1998 NFL Draft, Peyton was the top overall selection by the Indianapolis Colts.

After Cutcliffe became the head coach at Ole Miss in December of 1998, he recruited Eli Manning to Oxford, where the younger Manning threw for over 10,000 career yards with 84 touchdowns and helped the Rebels to 10 wins and a Cotton Bowl victory during his final season. Eli then joined his brother in the NFL’s number one draft pick club when the San Diego Chargers selected him with the top choice in 2004.

Both Mannings have earned Super Bowl MVP honors in their respective professional careers.
