Shane Battier, a native of Birmingham, Mich., was a two-time All-America pick while helping the Blue Devils to four ACC regular season titles, three ACC Tournament crowns and the 2001 NCAA championship.  The National Player of the Year choice by nine outlets as a senior in 2001, his list of accomplishments also includes three National Defensive Player of the Year citations, two first team Academic All-America credentials and the 2001 NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player award.  For his 146-game career, Battier averaged 13.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest while his jersey No. 31 was retired into the rafters of Cameron Indoor Stadium on February 21, 2001.  Following his collegiate career, Battier was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies and enjoyed a 13-year professional career that included two world championships with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013.
