PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIF. – Duke women’s tennis freshman Kelly Chen won her third match of the pre-qualifying draw at the Riviera International Tennis Association (ITA) All-American tournament to book her place in the singles qualifying draw.

Chen came into Sunday needing one win to reach the qualifying draw after she won her first two pre-qualifying matches on Saturday. She earned the needed victory by dropping Texas Tech’s Sabrina Federici 6-1, 6-2. Chen is now 5-1 in singles matches to start her freshman campaign.

Chen will be the fourth Blue Devil in the singles qualifying draw. Senior Samantha Harris, junior Kaitlyn McCarthy, and sophomore Meible Chi will also be vying to reach the main singles draw. Harris and Chen will also be playing in the doubles qualifying draw. Both the singles and doubles qualifying draw will begin on Tuesday.
