DURHAM, N.C. – Junior Griffin Conine collected his second preseason accolade as the junior outfielder was named to the 2018 Perfect Game/Rawlings Preseason All-America team Tuesday.

One of 17 players tabbed to the organization’s preseason All-America first team list, Conine was also a first team preseason All-America selection by Collegiate Baseball.

Conine is one of three ACC players listed on the Perfect Game/Rawlings first team, joining Clemson’s Seth Beer and Georgia Tech’s Joey Bart.

A 2017 Rawlings/Perfect Game Midseason All-American, Conine collected his first career All-ACC honors after leading the Blue Devils in slugging percentage (.571), on base percentage (.437), RBI (56), triples (2), home runs (13), total bases (117) and walks (40). Conine was the first Blue Devil to total 50-plus RBI in a season since first baseman Nate Freiman (62) in 2009. He was also the first Duke player with 10 or more home runs in a season since Jake Lemmerman (10) in 2010.

Over the summer, Conine earned the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Robert A. McNeece Award, given to the league’s top pro prospect as voted on by Major League Baseball scouts. In 45 games with the Cotuit Kettleers, Conine hit .326 with 58 hits, 11 home runs, five doubles and 31 RBI. He was selected to the CCBL All-Star Game and garnered West Division MVP honors as well.

Entering the spring, Conine is rated No. 11 on Baseball America’s list of Top 100 college prospects for the 2018 draft as well as No. 19 on MLB Pipeline’s Top 50 MLB Draft Prospects list.

Conine and the Blue Devils open the 2018 season Feb. 16-18 at Vanderbilt.
