Blue Devils Abound at MLL and Team USA Event Thursday

DURHAM, N.C.—A handful of Blue Devils will take to the field Thursday night at Harvard Stadium when the 2018 Major League Lacrosse All-Stars face off against the 2018 U.S. Senior Men’s National Team in a star-studded event. The game is slated to begin June 28 at 7 p.m., and will air on ESPN2 or ESPNEWS.

The game is slated to air on ESPN2, but if game three is needed in the College World Series on Thursday night, then the MLL All-Star Game will move to ESPNEWS.

Donning the red, white and blue will be former Blue Devils Ned Crotty, Matt Danowski, Will Haus, Myles Jones and Jordan Wolf. Representing the MLL from Duke is Justin Guterding and Michael Manley. Duke head coach John Danowski will lead Team USA from the sideline.

Guterding, joined the Ohio Machine after his stellar senior season with the Blue Devils. In four games with the Machine, the Garden City, N.Y., native has six goals and four assists for 10 points. He recorded his first professional hat trick and a career-best four points in a tough loss to Matt Danowski and Myles Jones’ Chesapeake Bayhawks.

In his seventh MLL season, close defenseman Manley has played in five games for the Dallas Rattlers. He has a goal, nine ground balls and three caused turnovers for the first-place Rattlers. Dallas currently tops the standings with an 8-2 overall record, one game ahead of the Bayhawks.

The All-Star game will be a final tune-up for Team USA before it heads to Israel for the 2018 FIL World Championship July 8. The tournament runs July 12-21. Crotty will be making his third appearance for the United States at the world championships, while Danowski and Wolf will hit the field for the first time in their careers.

The U.S. opens world championship play on Thursday, July 12 against the Iroquois Nationals and the event runs through July 21. The majority of U.S. games will be aired on ESPN2 or ESPNU. Click here to see the complete U.S. team schedule from Israel.
