FRANCE – Following three days of action in France for the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup, the United States claimed a 38.5 to 21.5 victory at the Evian Resort Golf Club. The U.S. registered 18-of-24 points in the final round of singles matches Sunday to pull away for the win.

Duke sophomore Jaravee Boonchant went up against Mariel Galdiano in singles play Sunday and dropped a 1-down decision. Galdiano led 1-up through six holes, but Boonchant birdied the par five seventh and parred No. 8 to go ahead, 1-up, through eight holes. After winning the next two holes, Galdiano again went 1-up through 10 holes. Boonchant, who hails from Bangkok, Thailand, would respond by winning the next two holes to go back ahead, 1-up, through 12.

The lead by Boonchant wouldn’t last long as Galdiano won No. 13 with a birdie. Galdiano went back in front, 1-up, with a birdie on No. 15. Both golfers parred No. 16 and then Boonchant registered another birdie on No. 17 to get the match all square with one hole remaining. On the par five 18th, Galdiano was able to register a birdie to win, 1-up. For the round, Boonchant shot one-under.

On Saturday, Boonchant teamed with Pimnipa Panthong in an afternoon fourball session and dropped a 1-up decision to USA’s Emilia Migliaccio and Dylan Kim. In the morning mixed foursome, Boonchant and Fredrik Nilehn held as much as a 3-up lead with seven holes remaining, but halved with Andrea Lee and Kaitlyn Papp of the U.S.

In Friday’s mixed fourball, Boonchant once again teamed with Fredrik Nilehn and fell, 3&1, to Jamie Freedman and Brad Dalke.

The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and began at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando, Fla. in 1997.
