DURHAM, N.C. – Fans of the Duke men’s basketball program took their first look at the 2018-19 squad during the Blue Devils’ 10th annual Countdown to Craziness presented by Delta Air Lines event Friday evening at a sold-out Cameron Indoor Stadium.
The night began with introductions of both the men’s and women’s basketball team before the Blue Devil men took the court for a 20-minute Blue-White scrimmage. The White team emerged with a 44-39 victory thanks freshman Zion Williamson, who finished with 14 points and five rebounds. The Spartanburg, S.C., native finished 7-11 from the field, with five of his field goals coming from highlight-reel dunks.
Freshman RJ Barrett poured in a game-high 23 points, while freshman Cam Reddish and junior Javin DeLaurier, each scored in double-figures with 13 and 10, respectively. Junior Marques Bolden pulled down a game-high six rebounds.
The White Team jumped out to an early 17-8 lead after the first 10 minutes, but a pair of dunks from Barrett and a three from Reddish pulled Blue within 28-24 with 7:11 remaining.
White regained control with a 7-0 run to put the game away.
Duke opens exhibition play Tuesday, Oct. 23, hosting Virginia Union at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., with the contest airing on ACC Network Extra.
