The Blue Devils hold a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series with the Blue Hose, winning previous meetings in 2013 and 2017.

Presbyterian opened the 2019 campaign with a 20-2 setback at Mount St. Mary’s Saturday. Natalie Barnett and Sarah Marshall had the lone goals for the Blue Hose in the loss.

Senior defender Hudson Roarick earned a spot on the Big South Preseason All-Conference Team. Roarick is one of four returning Blue Hose who started all 17 contests in 2018.

Former Presbyterian starter Jenna Handshoe took over at the helm of the program over the summer.

The Blue Devils are 8-1 historically when facing teams from the Big South.

Olivia Jenner Tops Century Mark
With her goal at the 5:30 mark in the first half of Saturday’s win over Villanova, senior attacker Olivia Jenner notched the 100th point of her career. She finished the day with three goals and two points to give her 102 points in 55 career contests.

Jenner became the 28th player in program history to reach the century mark in career points. She also ranks among the top 30 players in Duke history in career goals (27th, 72), assists (23rd, 30) and free position goals (t21st, 11) and last season became the Blue Devils’ all-time leader in career draw controls (369).

Blue Devils Cruise Past Villanova in Opener
The Blue Devil attack exploded for eight tallies in the opening 12 minutes to set the tone in Saturday’s season-opening 19-9 win over Villanova at Koskinen Stadium.

Coming off of a breakout rookie season a year ago, Charlotte North collected a hat trick just over five minutes in, helping to pace 24th-ranked Duke to its highest scoring output in a season opener since 2016. North headlined a balanced scoring effort with five goals while junior Catherine Cordrey and senior Olivia Jenner also secured hat tricks.

Junior goalkeeper Gabbe Cadoux made five of her six saves on the day in the first half.

Rookies Make Duke Debut
Five Blue Devil freshmen made their official Duke debut on the field in Saturday’s season opener. Olivia Rubin and Maddie Jenner recorded two tallies each, with Rubin being joined by fellow midfielder Veronica Hineman and defender Alexis Joseph in the starting lineup. Eva Greco also took the field for Duke on attack. Hineman notched three draw controls to go along with one ground ball and one caused turnover.

Cordrey Puts Together Career Day
Junior Catherine Cordrey turned in an impressive performance on the attacking end against the Wildcats. The Summit, N.J., native finished with a career-best six points and four ground balls, and matched career highs in goals (4), assists (2), free position goals (2) and caused turnovers (3).

Cordrey was one of three Blue Devils with four ground balls in the win, joining goalkeeper Gabbe Cadoux and defender Callie Humphrey. Behind their efforts, Duke won the ground ball battle by a 20-17 margin.

Cordrey ranked among the team’s leaders in points and goals last spring.
