A two-time All-ACC selection at guard in 1961, and 1962, Jean Berry was an integral part of three conference championships and a victory in the 1961 Cotton Bowl.

Berry, a native of Mooresville, N.C., earned All-America honors at the offensive guard position and was the team's MVP his senior year in 1962. The Blue Devils rolled to a 23-8 record with Berry as a three-year starter from 1960-62 under head coach Bill Murray. He was named first-team All-America in 1962.

Upon graduation, Berry worked for two years with Reynolds Tobacco Company in New York and Winston-Salem before a stint with McClean Trucking Company in Memphis, TN. In 1966, he was married and moved to Germany to work with Pilot Life Insurance.

In 1969, he returned to the United States and began a career in construction.
