Nancy Hogshead is Duke's most decorated and successful swimmer in school history. She is also the first woman to be inducted in the Duke Sports Hall of Fame.

She captured four Olympic medals in the 1984 Games in Los Angeles, including gold medals in the 100-meter freestyle, 4x100 meter freestyle relay and the 4x100 meter medley relay. She also took the silver medal in the 200-meter individual medley.

At Duke, she captured four ACC championships and was a two-time All-America in her one year of college competition. She set school records in every event she swam in college.

Hogshead attended Law School at Georgetown University following her stay at Duke.
