John Kerr reached three milestones during his senior season on the Duke men's soccer team in 1986. In addition to winning the Hermann Trophy and the inaugural Missouri Athletic Club Award (both given to the National Player of the Year), Kerr also led Duke to the NCAA title, the Blue Devils' first team title in any sport.

Kerr was the squad's leading scorer with 15 goals and 14 assists, topping the ACC in scoring while claiming the ACC Player of the Year award. He also was tabbed National Player of the Year by Soccer America and adidas following Duke's run for the championship.

A native of Falls Church, Va., Kerr finished his career ranked second on Duke's all-time scoring list with 127 points and second on Duke's all-time assists list with 43.

He began playing for the U.S. National Team in 1984 (while a sophomore at Duke), and remained with the team until 1995, when he was drafted into Major League Soccer. Kerr played for the New England Revolution and Dallas Burn in the MLS and Millwall in England.
