Ace Parker was one of Wade's prize players. He was a tailback on the 1934-35-36 teams which won 24 of 29 games and was an All-America selection two of those years.

Parker later won All-Pro honors for several years while performing in the National Football League. He also found time to play two seasons of baseball with the Philadelphia A's.

Following his playing career, the Portsmouth, VA, native returned to Duke, spending many years as an assistant coach and head baseball coach.
