DURHAM, N.C. - One day after track and field’s initial signing day of Feb. 4, Director of Track and Field Norm Ogilvie announced Duke's signees for the class of 2013.

To date, the men’s program will add nine student-athletes and the women will add 10.

"Our staff did an absolutely fabulous job getting an outstanding group of student-athletes to commit to our track and field program,” said Ogilvie. “The men's class is perhaps our finest ever, and is the third year in a row we've brought in a top-notch distance group. Our women's class also features some incredible distance runners, including two individual national champions, but also improved strongly both our sprinters and throwers.”

One highlight of the class is Curtis Beach of New Mexico, the nation’s top-ranked high school decathlete.

The men’s signees include Beach (Albuquerque, NM; multi-events), Kevin Dibbern (Iowa City, Iowa; 400-meters), Matt Marriott (Westport, Conn.; 800-meters), Mike Moverman (North Easton, Mass; distance), Dominick Robinson (Gillette, Wyoming; distance), Mike Rowland (Upper Marlboro, Md.; 400-meters), Jonathan Sanchez (Clovis, Calif; distance), Schuchinsky (Branchburg, N.J.; 1500-meters), and Blair White (Greenbrae, Calif.; multi-events).

The women’s class will include Michelle Anumba (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; throws), Ashley Brasovan (Wellington, Fla.; distance), Juliet Bottorf (Newark, Del.; distance), Kayla Hale (Indiatlantic, Fla.; distance), Emily Mattoon (San Diego, Calif; pole vault), Madeline Morgan (Birmingham, Ala.; distance), Adrienne Soo (Chapel Hill, N.C.; distance), LaCresha Styles (Acworth, Ga.; sprints), Shannon Sullivan (Woodridge, N.J.; throws), and Sophia Treakle (Asheville, N.C.; hurdles).

The 2008-09 track and field squads are in action this weekend at the Armory Collegiate Invitational on Friday and Saturday in New York City.
