Junior Hunter Knight, an All-Atlantic Coast Conference performer in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke at this month's conference championships, collected two more NCAA 'B' cuts this weekend at the 200-yard distance. After breaking a school record in the 200 breaststroke at the ACC Championships, Knight went 1:57.91 in the event preliminaries and dropped time in a 1:56.99 time trial performance, which was good for his second-fastest time of the season.
Senior Jim Zuponeck also saw action at the two-day meet in Atlanta, competing in the 100 breaststroke after placing fifth overall in the event at this year's conference championships. Zuponeck clocked 54.65 in the 100 breaststroke preliminaries and returned to post a mark of 54.42 in the evening final, with both times surpassing the NCAA provisional qualifying standard in the event.
Joining Knight and Zuponeck at the last chance meet was senior Ben Hwang. An ACC Championships finalist this season in the 50 freestyle, Hwang recorded a time of 20.00 in the morning preliminaries for his fifth NCAA 'B' cut of the season in the event.
The field for the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships will be announced Wednesday, March 13.
