Duke advanced to the NCAA quarterfinal round after defeating Syracuse 12-9 in the opening contest at Koskinen Stadium ... Duke is into the quarterfinals for the 13th time overall ... Colgate moves into the quarterfinals for the first time in program history after beating No. 6 seed UMass 13-11 in the first round.

Seniors Lead Duke Into Quarterfinals
Strong performances by the seniors led Duke past Syracuse in the opening round ... Justin Turri had a career-best five points (3g, 2a), while Robert Rotanz had a hat trick ... CJ Costabile had eight ground balls, while Michael Manley had five grounders and three caused turnovers ... Turri was one of 13 players to post at least five points in the opening round and one of 19 to have at least three goals ... Costabile was one of seven to pick up eight-plus ground balls, while Manley was one of five to have a minimum of three caused turnovers in the first postseason game.

Junior Tewaaraton Award finalist Peter Baum is the nation's leading scorer with 96 points (5.65/gm) from 66 goals and 30 assists ... Freshman Ryan Walsh has 35 goals and 22 assists for 57 points, while Jeff Ledwick rounds out the top three scorers with 46 points (32g, 14a) ... Robert Grabher handles the faceoff duties, wining 56 percent of his draws (227-of-408) and picking up 127 ground balls ... Bobby Lawrence and Kevin Gordon anchor the defense with 28 and 24 caused turnovers, respectively ... Duke at the Faceoff X
Duke dominated faceoffs against the Orange in the opening round, winning 71 percent of the draws ... The Blue Devils are led by CJ Costabile at the X, but he is backed up by junior Greg DeLuca, who won 5-of-7 restarts after Brendan Fowler went out of the game due to injury ... Costabile has won 52 percent of his faceoffs and Duke has won the faceoff battle 12 times this season, going 9-3 in those contests ... Duke is 2-1 when losing the battle at the X.

Man-Down Defense Key Against the Raiders
Duke's man-down defense will be key against Colgate this weekend as the Raiders feature the No. 3 man-up offense in the nation ... Colgate has been shut out in a game on man-up situations just once this season in an 0-for-2 effort against Fairfield ... The Raiders have scored at least one man-up goal in 15 of 17 games and have at least two extra-man scores in 10 contests ... Duke's man-down defense has improved over the last half of the season ... After the first 10 games of the season, Duke's ranked last in the NCAA in man-down defense,  allowing opponents to score 53 percent of the time ... Duke broke open a 5-5 tie against Syracuse in the first round by outscoring the Orange 6-3 in the third quarter ... Overall, Duke has outscored its opponents 120-79 in the second and third quarters combined and 63-39 in the third quarter alone this season ... The Blue Devils have been outscored five times in the second quarter and four times in the third overall this season ... Senior CJ Costabile was selected as one of five finalists for the 2012 Tewaaraton Award ... He is the fifth Blue Devil player to earn the distinction as a finalist, joining Kevin Cassese, Matt Danowski, Zack Greer and Ned Crotty ... Duke's Danowski and Crotty captured the honor in 2007 and 2010, respectively.

Justin Turri Surpasses Century Mark
With a career-high six points (2g, 4a) against Dartmouth, redshirt senior Justin Turri became the 38th Blue Devil to reach the 100-career point benchmark ... Turri has 67 goals and 49 assists for 115 points ... His 115 points currently rank 31st and are three shy of tying midfielder and current Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese for the 30th spot. 

Wolf Cracks 100 Career Points List
With six points against No. 1 Virginia, Jordan Wolf became the 39th Blue Devil in program history to amass at least 100 career points ... In 38 career games, sophomore Jordan Wolf has amassed 111 career points from 61 goals and 50 assists ... He tallied 51 points in his rookie season and has 60 points through 18 games this season.

Costabile Picking Up Grounders
Senior longstick midfielder CJ Costabile ranks among the nation's top ground ball guys ... Costabile faces off regularly for the Blue Devils and is a key member of the defense ... He currently ranks second among active Division I players in career ground balls with 353 ... His three GBs against Maryland in the ACC semifinal pushed him past Duke goaltender Joe Kirmser's 327 pickups, the most in  Duke lacrosse history.

Wolf and Walsh Are Duke's Top Scoring Duo
Sophomore attackmen Jordan Wolf and Christian Walsh have combined for 104 points for the year to rank 11th overall and seventh among the 16 NCAA Tournament teams ... Colgate's Peter Baum and Ryan Walsh are the top tandem with 153 points ... Virginia's Steele Stanwick and Chris Bocklet are the top duo in the ACC with 115 points.

Scoring Trio
Duke's top three goal scorers have combined for 97 of Duke's 203 goals for 48 percent of the team's total for the season ... Wolf & Walsh - both have 30 goals - Dionne, and Rotanz are the top goal scoring trio in the ACC and fourth among the NCAA field of 16 teams.

Scoring leaders
Duke has four players with at least 25 goals for the year ... In 18 games, Duke has seven different leading scorers ... Jordan Wolf has led or tied for the lead in points in a game a team-best nine times this season.

Long Pole Scoring
Duke has gotten 11 goals and seven assists from the long poles this season ... Costabile has six goals and four assists ... Chris Hipps registered his first career goal at Loyola and Brian Dailey had his first career score against Marist ... Michael Manley has two goals and an assist, while Luke Duprey has one goal and two assists.

CJ Dangerous off the Faceoff
Senior long stick midfielder CJ Costabile has been a key member of the faceoff midfield throughout his career ... Whether on the wing or at the X, Costabile is always a threat to create goals ... In his career, the New Fairfield, Conn., native has 14 goals directly after a faceoff, including the game-winner in the 2010 NCAA title game ... He has seven assists after winning a faceoff or picking up the ground ball on the wing ... Overall, 21 of his 41 points have come directly from the X. 

Wigrizer Breaks 400 Saves Mark
Junior goaltender Dan Wigrizer broke the 400 career saves mark with 14 stops at Virginia on April 13 ... He currently ranks third among all junior goalies in career saves with 444 and is 11th overall among active Division I backstops.

Wigrizer Hitting His Stride
After missing three games to injury and losing the starting job in three other contests, junior goaltender Dan Wigrizer is playing his best lacrosse of the season ... Playing the majority of minutes in the past 10 games, he is sporting an 8.65 goals against average and a .526 save percentage in that stretch.

Wigrizer Part of Elite Fraternity
Junior Dan Wigrizer is part of a small fraternity of goaltenders who captured NCAA Championships as freshmen between the pipes ... He is one of six freshmen goalies to achieve the feat ... Wigrizer joins Rodney Rullman (Virginia, 1972), Kevin Mahon (Johns Hopkins, 1974), Quint Kessenich (Johns Hopkins, 1987), Derek Kenney (Virginia, 1999) and current Duke volunteer assistant coach John Galloway (Syracuse, 2008) ... Only Galloway went on to win another national title in his career as the Orange captured the 2009 crown ... Wigrizer ranks 10th amongst current Division I goalies in minutes played (2,541) and second amongst junior goaltenders.
