DURHAM, N.C. - Duke men's and women's swimming & diving assistant coach Dawn Kane has been named a finalist for Honorable Mention Assistant Coach of the Year honors from CollegeSwimming.com, as announced by the organization Thursday.

Kane completed her seventh season at Duke during 2011-12, continuing to support head coach Dan Colella while playing an integral role in the development of the program. Under Kane's direction, the Duke men posted an overall record of 4-7 and finished sixth as a team at the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships. The women's team concluded the season with a 5-7 record and took ninth at the ACC Championships. Seniors Piotr Safronczyk and Ben Tuben qualified for the 2012 NCAA Div. I Men's Swimming & Diving Championships, with both earning All-America honors and propelling Duke to a 29th-place finish as a team. The Blue Devils also continued to excel in the classroom, as the program landed four on the 2012 All-ACC Academic Team.

During Kane's tenure at Duke, the program has made steady and consistent improvement in the pool. The Blue Devils' success with Kane on the pool deck includes three individual national championships, five All-Americans, 15 individual ACC titles and 39 All-ACC Academic Team members.
