DURHAM, N.C. - Duke junior right-hanger Marcus Stroman has added yet another accolade to his résumé as the Medford, N.Y., native picked up third team Baseball America 2012 All-America honors as announced by the organization Friday.

Stroman, who also garnered All-America honors from both Louisville Slugger and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), becomes just the second Blue Devil to earn Baseball America All-America honors, joining outfielder/pitcher Ryan Jackson. Jackson was tabbed a second team All-American by the organization following the 1994 season.

In his third season with the Blue Devils, Stroman led all NCAA pitchers in strikeouts with 136 and finished second in strikeouts per nine innings (12.49). His 136 strikeouts are the fifth-most in a single season in Duke history, while his 136 Ks compared to just 26 walks gave him a 5.23 strikeout-to-walk ratio on the year. In his 10 ACC starts, Stroman had 99 strikeouts against 18 walks.

Stroman, a first team All-ACC pick, ranked first in the conference in innings pitched (98.0), fifth in ERA (2.39) and 10th in opponent batting average (.231). In ACC games only, he finished first in innings pitched (76.0), first in strikeouts (99), first in strikeouts per nine innings (11.72) and 10th in ERA (2.49).

For the season, Stroman went 6-5 with a 2.39 ERA in 14 starts. His 2.39 ERA is the sixth-lowest in a single season in the aluminum bat era (since 1974) in Duke history. With 290 career strikeouts, he ranks fourth on Duke's all-time strikeouts list. In addition, Stroman's 3.27 career ERA is the second-lowest in school history in the aluminum bat ear and the sixth-lowest all-time.

The Toronto Blue Jays drafted Stroman with the 22nd overall pick in the 2012 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft on June 4 as he became the first player in school history chosen in the first round.
