LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The USA Men's Basketball National Team opens exhibition play this evening at 9 p.m. against the Dominican Republic at UNLV's Thomas & Mack Center.
Led by head coach Mike Krzyzewski, the Team USA men will play five exhibitions from July 12-24 against the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Great Britain, Argentina and Spain.
"For our guys it’s past time to get a game under the belt," Krzyzewski said. "They are not accustomed to doing too many days without a game. They just spent an entire season with a very condensed schedule. I think we are anxious to play the Dominican Republic and get on more of a schedule where they are playing at least every few days."
Team USA is the defending Olympic Champion and FIBA World Champion, having won both titles under Krzyzewski in 2008 and 2010, respectively. The USA roster includes an impressive list of NBA superstars, including Carmelo Anthony, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Chris Paul who were members of the 2008 Olympic gold medal team.
All games will be available on WatchESPN and generally carried on ESPN Mobile TV. Mark Jones will provide play-by-play for all ESPN and ESPN2 telecasts with International basketball expert and analyst Fran Fraschilla. In addition, ESPN will provide extensive coverage of USA Basketball on SportsCenter, espnW.com, ESPN.com's NBA section and ESPN's NBA Facebook page.
