DURHAM, N.C.— When the 2012 Duke women’s soccer team reported for preseason practice this week, they were presented with a brand new locker room. Since the last update, new display boards for the walls and a white board was installed earlier this week to finalize the renovation project.
In the renovation, the Blue Devils had wooden lockers installed, new stereo system, a phone charging station, new carpet with a Duke logo, new ceiling panels and interior painting, new display boards and track lighting installed.
The Duke student-athletes were able to have this new locker room following generous donations by Blue Devil supporters.
The Blue Devils are coming off advancing to the 2011 NCAA College Cup, while posting a school-record 22 victories. Duke registered just the second Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) regular season title with an 8-1-1 record and the NCAA College Cup appearance was the first since 1992. As a team, the Blue Devils posted a school-record 16 shutouts.
Duke returns all 11 starters in 2012, while welcoming another standout recruiting class to the mix. Coming off scoring 55 goals last year, the Blue Devils return 91.0 percent of their scoring this season.
