DURHAM, N.C. - Duke senior Conner Vernon has been named the ACC Receiver of the Week following his 10-catch, 180-yard performance in the Blue Devils' 46-26 season-opening win over FIU this past Saturday.
A 6-1, 200-pound native of Miami, Fla., Vernon reached double figures in the reception column for a school record-matching fourth time in his career while topping the 100-yard barrier for the 10th time. In addition, he became Duke's all-time leader in receptions with 208, surpassing the previous total of 207 set by Vernon's former high school and collegiate teammate, Donovan Varner.
Three of Vernon's 10 grabs against the Panthers covered 25 or more yards including a 28-yard touchdown from quarterback Sean Renfree. Vernon also extended his streak of consecutive games with at least one reception to 36 - the nation's longest active streak.
Other honorees included Clemson's Andre Ellington (Offensive Back), Clemson's Dalton Freeman (Offensive Lineman), Florida State's Bjoern Werner (Defensive Lineman), Virginia Tech's Jack Tyler (Linebacker), Wake Forest's A.J. Marshall (Defensive Back), Virginia Tech's Cody Journell (Specialist) and Miami's Duke Johnson (Rookie).
The Blue Devils travel to face No. 25 Stanford on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. (ET).
