DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke men's cross country team continued its climb up the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's regional team rankings, moving up one spot to fifth in this week's Southeast Region poll. Meanwhile, the Blue Devil women continue to hold down fifth in the latest rankings, released Monday by the USTFCCCA.

Both squads are coming off of dual meet wins over NC Central Saturday in the Blue Devils' annual home meet on the Sally Meyerhoff Fitness Loop, located on the Al Buehler Trail. This year's meeting between the two schools featured an exciting start with a lap around the track in Wallace Wade Stadium 15 minutes prior to the kickoff of the Duke-NC Central football game.

Sophomore Kelsey Lakowske paced the Duke women, leading the pack in the 4K women's race with a time of 14:16. The Blue Devils placed all six runners inside the top seven for a 15-44 victory, improving to 5-0 on the season.

In the men's 6K race, junior Phil Fairleigh led all runners with an 18:58 clocking as Duke posted a 15-50 sweep over the Eagles. The dual meet victory gives the team a 4-0 ledger after two weekends of competition.

The Blue Devil men return to action Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational in Earlysville, Va. That race is set to get underway at 10 a.m. The following week will see both the men's and women's teams make the short trip to Cary, N.C. for the Great American Cross Country Festival on Sept. 28.
