DURHAM, N.C.-Duke University senior goalkeeper James Belshaw was voted to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week after posting a pair of shutouts and scoringa goal to help the Blue Devils to a 2-0 week. The Nottingham, England native had seven saves and tallied a penalty kick as Duke pushed its home win streak to three games.
In the first midweek game of the season, Belshaw helped anchor the Blue Devils' backline to the first shutout of the season with a 3-0 win over Georgia State. Belshaw made one save as Duke allowed the Panthers just one shot on goal.
Three days later in the ACC home opener for Duke, the senior captain was outstanding with six saves, including four in the second half, in a 2-0 victory over Clemson. Belshaw iced the victory for the Blue Devils, converting a penalty kick in the second half.
Belshaw is 3-3-0 this season with a 0.84 goals against average and a .808 save percentage. He has one shutout to his name and has helped Duke to consecutive shutouts.
The Blue Devils return to action Sept. 18 in a non-conference battle with UNC Greensboro at 7 p.m.
