DURHAM, N.C. - For the second straight year, Duke forward Mason Plumlee was named to the Capital One Academic All-District III Team, as announced on Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A 6-11 forward and team captain, Plumlee owns a 3.36 grade point average as a psychology major and is in the running for several national player of the year awards, including the Oscar Robertson Trophy and Wooden Award of which he was named to midseason watch lists for both. A native of Warsaw, Ind. and a Midseason All-America first team selection by Sporting News, Plumlee averages 18.1 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting 59.6 percent from the field. He is the ACC's leading rebounder and ranks second in scoring while guiding the fifth-ranked Blue Devils to an 18-2 record that includes three top-five victories.

Plumlee was an Academic All-America first team selection last season while also receiving citations to the NABC Honors Court, the All-ACC Academic Basketball Team and the ACC Academic Honor Roll. He is the fourth player in Duke basketball history to earn Academic All-America first team honors and is now eligible to receive that honor again this season.

An All-ACC, all-district and all-region performer last season, Plumlee is in the midst of the best season of his career in 2012-13. He ranks second in the ACC and tied for sixth nationally with 12 double-doubles, has scored in double figures in 19 of Duke's 20 games, reached the 1,000-point plateau this year and is coming off of a career-high 32-point performance against Wake Forest.

Next up for Plumlee and the Blue Devils is a road matchup at Florida State on Feb. 2 followed by a home contest against No. 19 N.C. State on Thursday, Feb. 7.
