DURHAM -- The Duke football program held its annual Pro Day event on Monday with 21 of the NFL’s organizations sending representatives to campus.

A total of seven former Blue Devils participated including wide receiver Conner Vernon, who concluded his career as the ACC’s all-time leader in both pass receptions and receiving yardage.  Others taking part were long snapper Jackson Anderson, safety Jordon Byas, cornerback Tony Foster, wide receiver Desmond Scott, wide receiver Donovan Varner and cornerback Johnny Williams.

Vernon also put his skills on display at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis back in February.

“This is the audition,” Vernon said. “You’ve really only got one shot at this.”

Former Blue Devil quarterback Sean Renfree did not participate on Monday while continuing to recover from a torn right pectoralis major muscle suffered in Duke’s Belk Bowl loss to Cincinnati.

“I’ve looked at almost every guy available and I think Sean Renfree is the most accurate passer in the draft,” Duke head coach David Cutcliffe said. “There’s a reason as a three-year starter that he’s the most accurate passer in our history. He has great knowledge and an uncanny ability of putting the ball where he needs to put it.”

The NFL Draft is set for April 25-27.
