In addition, both teams and coaching staffs will be shaving their heads in support of children battling cancer following the Duke/UNC series finale Sunday, April 21 at Boshamer Field.
“We are very proud to partner with Coach Fox and the UNC baseball program in the fight to end childhood cancer,” said head coach Chris Pollard. “I have the utmost respect for Chase Jones. He is doing great work throughout the country to rally the sport of baseball for this important cause. It is also a tremendous source of pride for our program to know that the money we raise will go directly to support the Duke Children’s Hospital. Sunday, April 21 will be a fun and meaningful day for our players and coaches. On behalf of all the members of our program, we appreciate the support of the Duke and Durham communities.”
Chase Jones, a cancer survivor and former Tar Heel baseball player, began the Vs. Cancer Foundation in December 2012. Jones was diagnosed with Stage IV brain cancer in 2006 during his freshman year at North Carolina.
