No. 7 Duke Faces No. 19 Virginia in ACC Championship Quarterfinals
Seventh-ranked Duke (11-4, 2-3 ACC) enters the 2013 ACC Championship as the No. 4 seed, and will face fifth-seeded Virginia Thursday, Apr. 25 at 1 p.m. in Chapel Hill … The Blue Devils are 1-2 all-time as the No. 4 seed in the ACC Championship … No. 19 Virginia received the No. 5 seed in the tournament and owns an overall ledger of 8-8 to go with a 1-4 mark in regular season ACC play.

Duke in the ACC Tournament
The 2013 ACC Tournament is slated for Apr. 25-28 at Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill, N.C. ... The Blue Devils are in search of the second ACC title in program history and first since 2005 ... Duke is 9-15 all-time in ACC Championship action and 1-2 when playing as a No. 4 seed ... The Blue Devils are 1-6 all-time when facing Virginia in the ACC Tournament.

Virginia Series History
Duke and Virginia will square off for the 31st time overall and the second time this season in Thursday’s ACC quarterfinal contest ... The Cavaliers lead the all-time series by a 19-11 margin but Duke has won five of the last seven meetings between the two schools, including a 13-7 victory earlier this season in Charlottesville ... The Blue Devils are 1-6 in program history when facing Virginia in the ACC Tournament.

Last Time We Met
The two teams met in Charlottesville on March 23, with the Blue Devils outscoring Virginia 7-2 in the second half to win by a 13-7 margin ... Duke’s defensive unit, anchored by freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Duryea’s 12 saves in the net, held its opponent to single-digit scoring for the third consecutive game ... Senior attacker Makenzie Hommel led all players with four goals and junior Maddy Morrissey added three as the Blue Devils outshot Virginia, 27-21 ... The Cavaliers are averaging 10.62 goals per game to go with a .405 shooting percentage as a team entering Thursday’s quarterfinal matchup ... Casey Bocklet paces the offense with a team-high 32 goals and ranks fourth in the ACC at 1.12 assists per game while Ashlee Warner owns 47 points (30g, 17a) on the spring ... Courtney Swan and Morgan Stephens lead Virginia at the draw while Liz Colgan (3-4) and Kim Kolarik (5-4) have split time in the net.

Scouting the Blue Devils
Seventh-ranked Duke collected victories against Davidson and Ohio State last week to improve to 11-4 overall, marking the 16th consecutive season the program has reached double-digits in the wins column ... The squad then moved up two spots to No. 7 in the latest IWLCA poll ... Sophomore Kerrin Maurer leads the team in points (54) and assists (26) while ACC Offensive Player of the Week Makenzie Hommel has netted a team-high 41 goals ... Maurer ranks second in the league in assists per game (1.73) and fifth in points per game (3.60) coming into the tournament ... Junior Taylor Virden leads the Blue Devils and ranks third in the ACC with an average of 1.80 ground balls per contest and is eighth on the program’s all-time draw controls list with 111 for her career ... Freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Duryea is 7-3 this spring with an ACC-best 9.55 saves per game and a .522 save percentage.

Last Time Out
The Blue Devils used a complete game effort to top Ohio State, 15-9, Saturday at Koskinen Stadium ... Duke fired 24 shots to the Buckeyes’ 22 and won the ground ball battle, 15-14 ... Four different Blue Devils turned in multi-goal performances, led by senior Makenzie Hommel, who matched a career-high with five goals and six points ... Sophomore Taylor Trimble collected her second hat trick of the week ... Freshman Kelsey Duryea improved to 7-3 in the net as the defense held its opponent to single-digit scoring for the eighth time this season ... Junior Molly Quirke registered two caused turnovers and also picked up two ground balls in the win.

Five Named to All-ACC Team
Senior Makenzie Hommel, junior Taylor Virden, sophomores Kerrin Maurer and Taylor Trimble and freshman Kelsey Duryea earned All-ACC accolades for the first time in their careers ... Head coach Kerstin Kimel has had three or more players named to the all-conference team in each of the past 14 seasons ... Duke joined Maryland and North Carolina in landing five honorees on this year’s squad.

Blue Devils Sweep Weekly ACC Honors
Duke swept the ACC Player of the Week accolades for the second time this season Apr. 23 following a pair of wins over Davidson and Ohio State ... Senior Makenzie Hommel was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career after totaling nine points in the two contests, including matching a career-high with five goals against the Buckeyes ... Freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Duryea collected her third Defensive Player of the Week honors, posting 16 saves and continuing to anchor a defense that has held eight opponents to single-digit scoring.

Senior Makenzie Hommel and sophomore Kerrin Maurer continue to pace the Blue Devil attack ... Maurer ranks fifth in the ACC and is tied for 54th nationally with 54 points this season for an average of 3.60 per contest ... She is also is second in the conference and tied for 26th nationally in assists (26) with eight multi-assist games ... Hommel is tied for fifth in the league and tied for 43rd in the country with an average of 2.73 goals per game ... She also leads the team in hat tricks with eight ... Both Hommel and Maurer have garnered ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors this season.

Scoring Streaks
Sophomore Taylor Trimble has registered a point in a career-best 14 straight contests entering Saturday’s game against Ohio State ... Senior Makenzie Hommel has scored at least one point in 10 consecutive contests.

Duryea Maturing Quickly in the Cage
Freshman Kelsey Duryea has been solid in the net since making her first appearance in the second half against Maryland on Feb. 24 ... Duryea has started all 10 contests since then, ranking second nationally in save percentage and third in saves per game coming into the tournament ... The Beverly, Mass., native was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this spring on Apr. 23 following a pair of wins against Davidson and Ohio State ... Duryea recorded a season-high 15 stops against North Carolina on March 28, making her one of just four netminders in program history to notch 15 or more saves in a game.

Six Blue Devil freshmen have seen the field this season with Maddy Acton, Kelsey Duryea and Kelci Smesko entering the starting lineup ... Smesko has started every contest at attack and has tallied 32 points (19g, 13a), with the 13 helpers ranking her second on the squad ... Acton has played in every game with three starts, recording 17 points (14g, 3a) ... Duryea made her first appearance between the pipes in the second half against Maryland and has started the 10 games since then ... Duryea ranks second in the country in save percentage and is third in saves per game ... The native of Beverly, Mass., posted a season-high 15 saves against North Carolina (March 28).

Attack Duo Moving Up Career Lists
Senior Makenzie Hommel and sophomore Kerrin Maurer have both started the 2013 season in strong fashion ... Hommel has registered a team-high 41 goals to go with nine assists for a total of 50 points, while Maurer owns 28 goals and leads the team in assists (26) and points (54) ... Hommel surpassed the 100-point mark for her career with a two-goal performance against Boston College (Apr. 6) ... Maurer reached the 100-point barrier with a five-point performance against Davidson (Apr. 17) and topped the 50-assist milestone in a win over Ohio State (Apr. 20).
