CHANTILLY, France- Duke University sophomore Celine Boutier and the Europe squad claimed the 2013 Vagliano Trophy with a 16 ½ to 7 ½ victory over Great Britain and Ireland over the weekend at the Golf de Chantilly in France.

After holding a 6 ½ to 5 ½ lead following day one of play, the Europe squad won three of four foursome matches in the morning on Saturday to take a 9 ½ to 6 ½ advantage into the afternoon.  The Europe team was dominant in singles action winning seven of eight matches to close with a 16 ½ to 7 ½ win.

Boutier, who is from Montrouge, France, collected a 2-0 record in singles play over the two days as she closed the weekend with a 3&1 victory over Becky Harries.  The reigning ACC Rookie of the Year, Boutier also defeated Georgia Hall, 2&1, in her other singles match.

Since 1959, the Vagliano match has been a biennial one between teams from the Continent of Europe and Great Britain and Ireland. In 2011, a Junior Match was added for an U16's girls' team.  The Vagliano Trophy was first placed in 1931 as a match against France.

The 2013 ACC Rookie of the Year and Honorable Mention All-America, Boutier is coming off a season at Duke where she totaled a 73.45 stroke average to go along with four top 10 finishes.  Her 73.45 stroke average was the sixth-best single-season stroke average by a Blue Devil freshman.
