DURHAM, N.C. – Golf World announced its top 50 players to watch on Thursday with Duke’s Laetitia Beck, Celine Boutier and Alejandra Cangrejo each named to the list.  Duke was one of only three schools with three or more selections to the ledger (USC & UCLA).

Coming off her best season as a Blue Devil, Beck totaled a career-best 73.16 stroke average, had one top five, four top 10 and eight top 20 finishes in 2012-13.  She closed the season with eight top 20 finishes over her final nine tournaments.  This included a second place finish at the ACC Championship and tied for 17th placement at the NCAA Championship.  Beck, who is out of Caesarea, Israel, earned Golfweek All-America and NGCA Honorable Mention All-America accolades as a junior.

The 2013 ACC Rookie of the Year and Honorable Mention All-America, Boutier heads into her second season at Duke, after totaling a 73.45 stroke average to go along with four top 10 finishes.  Her 73.45 stroke average was the sixth-best single-season stroke average by a Blue Devil freshman.   A native of Montrouge, France, Boutier closed the season with a tied for fourth place ledger at the NCAA Championship.

Cangrejo, a product of Bogota, Colombia, secured a career-best 73.86 stroke average as a junior, while totaling two top five and four top 20 finishes on the season.  She collected her best finish of the year at the NCAA Central Regional with rounds of 72, 69 and 70 as she placed tied for second with a career-best five-under-par, 211.  Cangrejo also turned in a tied for third place finish at the ACC Championship.

As a team, Duke was tabbed No. 3 overall in the preseason Golf World/NGCA Division I College Women’s Preseason Coaches’ Poll that was released on Wednesday.

The Blue Devils will open the 2013-14 campaign Sept. 9-11 at the Dale McNamara Fall Preview in Tulsa, Okla.
