DURHAM, N.C. -- The Duke women’s tennis team reclaimed the top ranking in the nation, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Tuesday. The Blue Devils held the No. 1 ranking for four weeks before falling to No. 2 March 11.

In addition to Duke, No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 Stanford and No. 5 Florida round out the top-five ranked teams. The sixth-ranked Virginia Cavaliers and the 10th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels join Duke as the three ACC teams among the top 10 in the nation.

In Duke’s most recent contest, the Blue Devils blanked the Old Dominion Monarchs, 6-0. Duke currently owns a 14-1 overall record and a 5-1 ledger in conference matches this season. The Blue Devils won six of their last seven dual matches, dating back to Feb. 23.

In addition to the top-team ranking, four singles players and five doubles pairs also appear on the ITA’s most recent list, released March 11. The sixth-ranked Beatrice Capra headlines Duke, while No. 24 Ester Goldfeld and No. 31 Hanna Mar earned top-35 rankings. Freshman Alyssa Smith rounded out the Duke contingent in singles, ranking 94th overall.

In doubles, the No. 4 duo of Mar and Capra rank among the nation’s top five doubles teams, while Goldfeld and Smith earned the 22nd ranking. Goldfeld and junior Annie Mulholland also appear among the top 30, ranking 29th overall. The No. 42 pair of Goldfeld and senior Marianne Jodoin and the 66th-ranked duo of Mulholland and freshman Chalena Scholl round out the Duke doubles teams among the top 80.

The Blue Devils return to competition Sunday, March 23, welcoming Florida State to Durham, N.C. The match, set for 11 a.m., will air live on ESPN3, as part of College MatchDay.
